India’s second-largest telecom company Bharti Airtel has proved its preparedness for 5G and Airtel CEO, Gopal Vittal has stated that Airtel will immediately roll out 5G services as soon as they obtain “adequate spectrum” in the mid-band. On Thursday, the company gave a live demonstration of its 5G network in Hyderabad.
Vittal said “When we launch 5G and make it available commercially, it must have the full power of 5G instead of marketing. Delivering experience is a must and you need more spectrum, especially in the mid-band. That doesn’t mean 1800, 2300 and 2100 MHz can’t be used, but the true 5G will be enabled through mid-band.” Airtel has been working on its 5G network for almost a year and now they are in need of spectrum to enable it throughout the country.
