After a couple of developer previews and the first beta build of Android 13, Google has finally released the Android 13 Beta 2 at its I/O 2022 developer conference. If you remember Android 12’s adoption of the Material You design and theme, Android 13 Beta 2 is based on similar lines. There are many more add-ons in the form of a feature-rich interface in the latest beta build. Good things all around for Android users. Whether it’s about privacy, customisations or the implementation of the brand new Google Wallet, Android 13 Beta 2 brings many exciting new features we can’t wait to get our hands on. Can you? Well, let’s dive right into the details then!

Android 13 Beta 2: Notable Features

Here is a list of some of the notable features that have been implemented in the latest beta build of Android 13:

New Icons & Colour Combinations

Following in the footsteps of Android 12’s Material You design, Android 13 beta 2 brings app icon themes and new colour styles on board. Even the media control changes its appearance with each new song that’s being played. You can also set custom languages for each supported app on your smartphone.

Privacy-Focused Features

We can also see the implementation of a new privacy-centric feature that allows access to a specific set of files only instead of the entire library. For example, earlier the options were Files and Media but now it has been subdivided into “Photos & videos” and “Music & audio”.

There will also be fewer apps sending you notifications all day and asking you for location permissions frequently. Android 13 will also let you know when your clipboard is being accessed to copy/paste any information and automatically delete clipboard history after a while to prohibit apps from seeing them.

By the end of this year, Android 13 will also have a unified Security & Privacy settings page to access your device security all in one place.

Introducing Google Wallet

Google has finally come up with its own Digital ID support by the name of Google Wallet. This move directly hits competitors such as Samsung Pay in India and Apple Pay globally. Google Wallet will store all your debit cards, credit cards, travel cards, IDs, and digital money, as the name suggests. It will be available for WearOS smartwatches too. Google Pay will also be integrated into the Wallet whenever it launches in India.

Android 13 For Tablets

Google is finally paying attention to the tablet market as sales have soared throughout the pandemic. With this in mind, Google has significantly enhanced the use-case of tablets by implementing a lot of multitasking capabilities. These include but are not limited to a new taskbar, ease of drag and drop and feature-rich stylus support.

So, that’s it for this one. As more features and the latest build of Android 13 drop, we’ll keep you posted. Till then, stay tuned to TechBurner for more awesome tech articles daily!
