As per the media reports, schools in Mumbai under the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) are all set to get a major revamp and will be rebranded as Mumbai Public Schools. BMC Commissioner Iqbal Singh Shahal made this announcement after allocating Rs 2,945.78 crore to the education sector from annual budget.
As of now, there are around 2 lakh students studying in more than 1200 Mumbai’s government schools. The civic body of Mumbai has also said that they would set up 10 new CBSE schools for the academic year 2020-21. While this year’s total outlay is set to be Rs. 39,038.83 crore that would focus on health, infrastructure transport, electricity and water facilities.
