Google is planning to take another step for the betterment of creators on the YouTube platform by bringing ads to the YouTube shorts platform. The update might come for both Android and iOS, and will introduce a new source of income for the creators.

Google introduced Shorts to YouTube in 2020 posing it as a competition for the short video creation platforms TikTok and Instagram Reels. Bloomberg reported that Google’s chief business officer Philipp Schindler briefed their investors about ads in the new format and may be further opportunities for creators.

Will You See Ads on YouTube Shorts?

Bloomberg has reported that there might be a possibility of seeing Ads on YouTube shorts. However, there is no confirmation about sharing the profits of the ads with the creators with this new change. Google Adsense works on YouTube in collaboration with the creators, but will it get extended to the shorts platform? Users and creators will have to see. When shorts entered the YouTube platform, the company had a fund program for limited creators who made content on the platform, and the company paid up to $10,000 for the largest channels.

YouTube shorts is getting approximately 30 billion views on a daily basis, and this can be a good opportunity for Google to capitalise. The low-time retention factor might delay the process of rolling ads for shorts, but due to the significant 14% growth on YouTube due to shorts, it might be a good idea to roll out ads.

Besides bringing in ads for shorts, YouTube has also come out with a new earning feature for the creators known as Super Thanks. This allows the audience to tip their favourite creators. This system works only for four values at the moment and ranges between $2 to $50.
