How to Downgrade from iOS 15 to iOS 14

In June 2021, Apple announced its new iOS 15 and iPadOS 15 during the WWDC event. There are many great features in the latest iOS 15 that have attracted the interest of many developers. After the event, Apple iOS 15 went live for developers. If you are a developer and have a subscription, you can update your device without any issues. You just have to install the iOS 15 Beta Profile and the iOS 15 Developer Beta 1 will appear in Software Update. In this article, we are going to tell you how to downgrade from iOS 15 to iOS 14. This guide is for you if you want to move back to iOS 14. The major update of iOS 15 will be available for iPhones by this fall. But if you want to try it early you can the iOS 15 developer Beta right now or iOS 15 Beta next month.

How To Backup iOS 15 Data?

It is always advisable to backup your data before any update or modification. If you don’t know how to do that we are also going to tell you. Here’s how to backup iOS 15 data:

Step 1. On your iPhone Go to your Settings> Your Account > iCloud > Find My iPhone and Turn off the Find My iPhone option.

Step 2. Then remove the iOS 15 Beta profile from Settings> General > VPN & Device Management.

Step 3. Now connect your iPhone to your Windows or Mac.

Step 4. Use Finder on Mac to backup your iPhone or iTunes on Windows.

Note: You have to make sure to backup your data on Mac or Windows instead of iCloud.

Step 5. After backup on Mac, click on Manage Backup and open the list of the backup files then open Info.plist which will be in the backup file.

Step 6. On Windows open run and search “%appdata%”. It will show you the file location. From where you have to go to Apple Computer > MobileSync > Backup.

Step 7. Now select the latest backup and look for the Info file.

Note: Make sure that you open the file on a Text Editor or NotePad.

Step 8. In the Info Plist search for the product version. After that change the string value in Mac to 14 and 14.0 in Windows and save the file.

Note: You can proceed to the downgrade method after taking a backup or modifying the backup file. Just make sure to follow all the steps carefully and correctly to avoid any issues.

How to Downgrade from iOS 15 to iOS 14?

Here’s how to downgrade from iOS 15 to iOS 14. Just follow some easy steps and you will be able to easily switch to iOS 14 after you are done with iOS 15 Beta.

Step 1. Download the signed IPSW on your iPhone or iPad. You can download it from IPSW sites.

Note: Signed IPSW will have the green tick.

Step 2. Now transfer the downloaded iOS or iPadOS signed IPSW to your computer.

Step 3. Open Finder or iTunes and connect your iPhone. You have to make sure to trust the connection to connect your iPhone successfully.

Step 4. Right after trusting the device, you will see your iPhone details on Finder or iTunes.

Step 5. If you have Mac then hold the Option and click on the Restore iPhone. If you have Windows then hold the Shift button.

Step 6. Now it will open the Explorer, choose and select the iOS 14/iPadOS 14 IPSW file that you downloaded.

Step 7. Click on the Restore in the popup after selecting the IPSW.

Step 8. Your iPhone will be restored to the preferred version of iOS 14.

Step 9. Your device will reboot into the system.

Note: When you reach Apps & Data while setting up your device, choose “Don’t Transfer Apps & Data” if you want to restore iOS 15 data backup. You can also skip the iCloud sign-in option.

How to Restore iOS 15 Data?

After completing the downgrade if you want to restore your backup data from iOS 15 here’s how it’s done.

Step 1. Connect your iPhone to the computer and make sure to Trust the connection on your Finder or iTunes.

Step 2. Once the Finder or iTunes shows the iPhone details, click on the Restore Backup button.

Step 3. Now browse ad select the backup file that you modified earlier.

Step 4. Now everything is done it will start restoring the backup on your iOS 14.

Note: After the reboot, set up your device again and you will find all your previous data. Now enjoy iOS 14 without any issues.
