Since the launch of the iPhone X in 2017, Android fans have long mocked Apple for its unaesthetic appearance. Finally, in 2022 Apple is going to launch the iPhone 14 series with its all-new design. In the months leading up to the launch, reports detail the features that the iPhone 13 series successor is likely to have. The list includes OLEDs, the A16 Bionic chipset, and Face ID under the display, to name a few. This means that the hole will be located in the top-center part of the screen. Just like on Samsung smartphones of the Galaxy S21 series. Both the iPhone 14 models, iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro will be having a notch in the middle like iPhone 13 models. The base-tier models are not expected to offer LTPO screens and clock 120Hz refresh rates.
iPhone 14 Pro Leaks
Apple will be incorporating TFT (thin-film transistors) and LTPO (low-temperature polycrystalline oxide) for the OLED panels in the upcoming iPhone 14 Series. As with its iPhone 13 lineup this year. The LTPO OLED panels will be powered by Samsung Display with a variable refresh rate of 120Hz. Samsung’s HIAA (Hole-in-Active-Area) technology is the best in the industry. It is For laser drilling micro-holes for the front camera on expensive OLED displays, based on Low-Temperature Polycrystalline Oxide (LTPO) for mobile devices.
It is reported that Apple may abandon the lighting port in the iPhone 14. The next is likely to replace the lighting port with a Type-C port. Rumor has it that iPhones will take this step, but it is still unknown if we will see this change in the next generation of iPhones.
iPhone 14 Pro Features
Display and Battery
Apple’s next release includes iPhone 14 which is 6.1-inch. iPhone 14 Pro which is also 6.1-inch, iPhone 14 Max of 6.7-inch, and iPhone 14 Pro Max which is also 6.7-inch. Apple is likely to keep the higher refresh rate as a standout feature of the upcoming iPhone 14 Pro. At least one iPhone 14 has been reported to have an LTPS display offering a 60Hz display.
Separately, the iPhone 14 series has an under-display fingerprint sensor that allows Touch ID to be used in the successor to the iPhone 13 series.
Additionally, the 14 pro models come with a 48MP main sensor on the back. Which will use a quad-output mode cell to use raw data from the 48MP sensor to create 12MP images with more detail and less noise. However, all these details should be taken with caution, as it is too early to say anything for sure.
The iPhone will use an A-series chip from Apple. It’s likely the A16, but this chip will definitely provide a noticeable boost in both CPU and graphics performance over the A15 Bionic found in the iPhone 13.
iPhone 14 is supposed to use a 4nm chip, which will be smaller and more efficient than the 5nm chip of iPhone 13. But also, TSMC is having problems manufacturing smaller chips. This means the iPhone 14 could have a range of 5nm chipset. If so, it would be the first time the iPhone has been equipped with a system on a chip of the same size in three years.
Apple largely agrees with the iPhone. We haven’t heard any hints about a possible iPhone 14 release date. The latest iPhone 13 was released on September 14 this year, close to its regular release date. So, based on previous Apple iPhone launch events, we expect the iPhone 14 to be launched in September 2022.
