Processors are like the heart for Smartphones. How well the SoC manufactured decides power and efficiency of the smartphone. South Korean Giant Samsung is well known for its quality smartphones all over the globe. Samsung not only makes smartphones also its components. One of them is their in-house chipset ‘Samsung Exynos’. Manufacturers like MediaTek and Qualcomm are dominating the market in the mid-range segment with very well built SoC. Samsung on the other hand still lags behinds them with their Exynos chips in the budget segment. Therefore Samsung has revealed a new Exynos chip for its budget smartphones. This new SoC is called the Samsung Exynos 850. The Samsung Exynos 850 is a new 8nm power-efficient SoC built for budget and the mid-range smartphone category. Samsung Exynos 850 Configurations

The new Samsung Exynos 850 is a chip-based on 8nm LPP process. It consisting of an octa-core CPU made of ARM Cortex-A55 cores that clocks up to at 2.0GHz. The graphic kinds of stuff are been handling by the ARM Mali-G52 GPU. As for hardware compatibility, this chip can support up to Full HD+ display, LPDDR4X RAM, and eMMC 5.1 storage.

Talking about cameras, it can support up to 16MP + 5MP dual-camera setup or 21.7MP single camera. Furthermore, it supports 60fps Full HD video recording and supports video codecs like HEVC(H.265), H.264, and VP8. Lastly, for connectivity, the chipset supports Cat7 LTE DL (downlink), Cat13 UL (uplink). Adding WiFi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5, FM Radio, and GNSS such as GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, and Galileo.

Exynos 850 Phones: Samsung Galaxy A21s

The Samsung Galaxy A21s features a 6.5-inch punch-hole HD+ display with 20:9 aspect ratio. The Exynos 850 processor gets support from 3/4/6GB of RAM and 32/64GB of storage. Storage capacity is expandable up to 512GB. There’s a quad-camera setup on the back of the smartphone. It has a 48-megapixel primary sensor, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens. Additionally, a 2-megapixel depth sensor and another 2-megapixel macro camera. The punch-hole cutout hides a 13-megapixel front camera. The back panel also houses a capacitive fingerprint sensor. Finally, it has a huge 5,000mAh battery with 15W fast charging support. This device may start at a price at Rs 10,999 for the lowest variant.

The Exynos 850 chipset is currently on the mass manufacturing process. Seeing this processor in mid-range A-series smartphone, we can expect it to power more budget phones for upcoming Samsung Galaxy A and M series of phones in India.
