As promised, Realme launched the 1st 64MP camera smartphone in India named Realme XT. While Realme XT’s USP is the 64MP camera, it also packs a quad camera setup. Needless to say, this is a camera-centric smartphone. On the other hand, Redmi launched the Redmi Note 8 Pro in China with a similar quad camera setup. Now this situation is perfect for comparison and requires so. On one hand, Realme XT comes with a Snapdragon 712, but the Redmi Note 8 Pro comes with the MediaTek G90T. Xiaomi has also confirmed that the Redmi Note 8 Pro will come to India within 2 months. So, let’s begin with Realme XT vs Redmi Note 8 Pro!
Realme XT vs Redmi Note 8 Pro: Price in India
Realme XT price in India starts at Rs. 15,999 for the 4GB + 64GB option. The 6GB + 64GB and 8GB + 128GB variant of the phone is priced at Rs. 16,999 and Rs. 18,999, respectively. It will go on sale on Flipkart and Realme.com from September 16 with various cashback offers included and screen replacement offers.
The Redmi Note 8 Pro, on the other hand, hasn’t been launched in India as of yet. It is priced in China at CNY 1,399 (approx. Rs. 14,000) for its base variant with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage. The 6GB + 128GB and 8GB + 128GB models have been priced at CNY 1,599 (approx. Rs. 16,000) and CNY 1,799 (approx. Rs. 18,000), respectively. It will come to India in 2months, Xiaomi India VP Manu Kumar Jain says.
Realme XT vs Redmi Note 8 Pro- Specs Compared:
Realme XT vs Redmi Note 8 Pro- Display:
The Redmi Note 8 Pro packs a 6.53-inch full-HD+ (1080×2340 pixels) screen with 19.5:9 aspect ratio, waterdrop-style notch and Gorilla Glass 5 on both front and back. The Realme XT packs a smaller 6.40-inch full-HD+ Super AMOLED screen with a waterdrop-style notch and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on top. The Redmi Note 8 Pro has a rear fingerprint sensor, but the Realme XT has an in-display fingerprint sensor. As you might have guessed, Redmi Note 8 Pro still has an IPS LCD display. Although it might not be a bad thing, it might be for someone who wants to upgrade from an AMOLED phone already. So, as far as Realme XT vs Redmi Note 8 Pro is concerned, I will give the lead to Realme XT for the AMOLED solution.
Realme XT vs Redmi Note 8 Pro- Processor:
In terms of the processor, the Realme XT is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 712 SoC, while Xiaomi has included brand new MediaTek Helio G90T processor on the Redmi Note 8 Pro. Both the phones offer up to 8GB RAM and up to 128GB of onboard storage. The Realme XT comes with a dedicated microSD card slot that offers up to 256GB of expandable memory. In comparison, the Redmi Note 8 Pro also offers expandable memory support up to 256GB, but as always, it is a hybrid solution and we can’t see any signs of those getting changed in the Indian variant! In the Realme XT vs Redmi Note 8 Pro specs comparison, it won’t be a fair judgment to declare any of them better as we’re yet to the G90T processor in any phone. However, on paper, G90T looks quite promising!
Realme XT vs Redmi Note 8 Pro- Optics:
Though the comparison follows Realme XT vs Redmi Noe 8 Pro, they sport identical quad-cameras housing 64-megapixel Samsung ISOCELL Bright GW1 sensor with f/1.8 aperture. To understand how these cameras work, check out our article on pixel binning. The quad-camera setup on both the phones also includes an 8MP wide-angle camera, a 2MP macro camera, and a 2MP depth sensor. On the front, the Redmi Note 8 Pro houses a 20MP camera, whereas Realme XT offers a 16MP shooter.
Realme XT vs Redmi Note 8 Pro- Battery:
Additionally, the Redmi Note 8 Pro buyers will get a 4,500mAh battery with support for 18W fast charge, with a bundled 18W charger inside the box. The Realme XT has a smaller 4,000mAh battery with support 20W VOOC 3.0 fast charging which needs no further explanation as we’ve seen it in Realme 3 Pro in action already.
They both sport 3.5mm headphone jacks, Type-C USB ports, and all necessary sensors. One thing to notice is that Realme XT is a bit thinner and lighter, pro’ly because of the lower battery. With 183grams, Realme XT is still a hefty phone, but with 199grams, Redmi Note 8 Pro is a bit heavier.
