Whatsapp is continuously adding new features in its Android and iOS app. Recently, they have added fingerprint authentication in the Android app. However, we all are waiting for the Dark mode for a long time now but Whatsapp is still testing it. Whatsapp is working on a feature called DISAPPEARING MESSAGES or Self-destructing messages. Once a user selects a time option, the self-destruct feature is enabled and any message sent in a group will be automatically deleted after that time period. Check out more information about Whatsapp Self-destructing Messages.
Whatsapp Self-destructing Messages
The latest WhatsApp for Android Beta v2.19.275 has this self-destructing message feature. According to WABetaInfo, this feature is the only available for the group chat as of now but it will be available for the personal chat in future. User can set expiration time either 5 seconds or 1 hour. After the expiration time, the message will be automatically deleted from the group. This feature is still in beta testing and more expiration time option will be added in future updates.
Most likely, the self-destructive message will not indicate that this message has been deleted—they will disappear silently. As you can see in the following screenshot, the user can enable the Disappearing message from the Group settings.
By tapping “Disappearing messages” from the Group settings, it will show three options to select: Off, 5 seconds and 1 hour. Whatsapp will delete the message automatically after the expiration time is over. Also, there will be no tracks available in the chat about deleted messages.
As we have mentioned above this feature is in alpha stage and it will take time to roll out for all the users. What are your thoughts on Disappearing messages? Let us know in the comment section below.
