On Friday, Google India said that they are working on a feature to locate Covid-19 vaccination centres on Google Search, Maps and Google Assistant. Google is taking this step in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare(MoHFW) and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to aid the world’s largest vaccination drive.
This move comes as India enters the second stage of vaccination i.e., to vaccinate elderly people between 45-59 years of age. The company will collect information such as details on the two vaccines, effectiveness, safety, distribution, side effects, and more. This feature will be available in English and eight major Indian languages. The portal will provide legitimate answers to commonly asked questions and will display real-time vaccination statistics sourced straight-away from MoHFW. This is expected to be rolled out within a week.
