OnePlus 7T Pro just launched a few days back and guess what? OnePlus 8 Pro renders already leaked. Thanks to OnLeaks and 91Mobiles, we have a 360-degree look of the upcoming OnePlus 8 Pro. It reveals quad-camera setup and a punch-hole display on the OnePlus 8 Pro. The regular OnePlus 8 will also feature a punch-hole display and the Pro variant too. The noticeable upgrade here is in terms of camera setup. The fourth ToF camera sensor can be observed beside the camera setup. Let’s talk more about the OnePlus 8 Pro price and OnePlus 8 Pro launch date in this article.

Design

OnePlus 8 Pro Design

Let’s start with the design first. As we can see in the renders there is no massive upgrade in terms of look. We got the same glass back panel and vertical placement of the camera. The triple camera is present in a vertical setup just above the OnePlus logo. The fourth 3D ToF (Time of Flight) camera sensor is present on the left side of the camera setup. The Laser autofocus module is also present below the ToF sensor just like the OnePlus 7T Pro.  The alert slider and the power button are present on the right side while the volume rockers are present on the left side. For charging and data transfer, USB Type-C is present at the bottom beside the primary microphone and as usual, there is no headphone jack! The shape of the speaker grill is changed. On the top, there is a noise cancellation microphone and the popup selfie camera is gone thanks to the punch-hole display.

We can expect a decrease in the overall weight of the OnePlus 8 Pro, compared to the 7 Pro because the pop-up camera mechanism is gone. The phone measures 165.3 x 74.4 x 8.8mm in size. The only major difference we can see in terms of design is the addition of the ToF sensor.

Display

OnePlus 8 Pro Display

On the front, we have a beautiful Super AMOLED curved display. The regular OnePlus 8 will also feature a curved display this time. The display resolution will be Quad HD+ and the size will remain almost similar around 6.65″ inches. Everyone loved the 90Hz refresh rate of the OnePlus 7 Pro. It feels extremely fluid. Even the cheaper OnePlus 7T got the same 90Hz display. So, OnePlus 8 Pro will definitely ship with a 90Hz panel. But at the same time, Asus ROG Phone 2 is giving a tough competition to the OnePlus 7T and it has a 120Hz refresh rate display. So, we can expect a 120Hz refresh rate display on the OnePlus 8 Pro. There is no official confirmation on it so we have to wait for some more time.

OnePlus is going to use a punch-hole display in their upcoming smartphones. Although the Popup camera mechanism helps to achieve the higher screen to body ratio and a full-screen experience. But it is not very practical implementation for some scenarios. It also adds some weight and many people have a doubt on the durability of the Popup mechanism. For that reason, OnePlus will remove the Popup camera and will implement a punch-hole display just like the Samsung. Another big reason to remove the Pop-up camera is the waterproofing. According to some leaks, OnePlus 8 Pro will finally have IP68 certification for Water and Dust Proof. Everyone was waiting for this and hopefully, we will get this.

One thing worth mentioning here is that Samsung has never used popup camera mechanism on its Flagship smartphone series. Starting from the S10 series and then on Note 10, Samsung has always implemented a punch-hole display. It’s more practical and most of the people prefer a punch hole instead of the notch. Recent renders of the Samsung Galaxy S11 also shows a punch-hole display. It suggests that Punch hole display is going to stay here. Good Job, Samsung and OnePlus!

Processor

OnePlus always offers the greatest specs possible. OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro will be powered by the upcoming flagship processor Snapdragon 865 along with the UFS 3.0 storage. It will come with either 8 or 12 gigs of RAM along with the 128, 256 and 512GB of onboard storage. OnePlus 8 Pro might also feature 5G support.

Camera

3 on the OnePlus 7 Pro and 4 on the OnePlus 8 Pro. OnePlus will add a 3D ToF or Time of Flight sensor on the OnePlus 8 Pro for depth-sensing. We have seen ToF sensor on the Huawei and Samsung flagships and now its the turn of OnePlus. ToF sensor also helps in 3D photography and AR-related stuff. We can expect better portrait mode images from the OnePlus 8 Pro. The other three lenses might remain the same which includes, a 48MP Sony IMX586 primary lens coupled with an 8MP telephoto and a 13MP Ultrawide angle lens.

Battery

OnePlus 7 Pro has a pretty decent 4,000mAh battery. OnePlus 7T Pro has a slightly bigger 4,085mAh battery. Now, OnePlus 8 Pro will have either 4,000 or 4,085mAh battery. OxyegnOS has a very good battery optimisation and the battery life of the 7 Pro is good so we will not be going to see an upgrade in terms of the battery capacity. However, we can expect a massive upgrade in terms of the charging speed. The regular OnePlus 8 will get a 30W WARP Charge 30T in the box which is very fast. But OnePlus might offer a 65W WARP charger with the OnePlus 8 Pro. Recently launched Oppo Reno Ace comes with a 65W SuperVOOC 2.0 charger.
