Apple’s WWDC 2022 event is finally here, and there were some interesting announcements during the event. The most interesting and refreshing announcement was the iOS 16. The Operating System for Apple iPhone brought in a number of changes in the UI in its previous updates. This year, Apple developers have gone the extra mile and brought in features that are useful. Here are the Top 5 iOS 16 features bringing change to the experience.
Top 5 iOS 16 Features
Lock Screen
Apple has brought in major improvements to the Lock Screen with iOS 16. Lock Screen is the first thing that users notice in a phone after picking it up for the first time. With iOS 16, you can now change the look and feel of the lock screen based on your mood and feelings. If you use your photo on the lock screen, you can now add filters and effects to the same. Users can also change the font and style of the time on the lock screen, and add different colours to the lock screen of the phone.

Another major addition to the lock screen is Widgets. Users can now add widgets to the lock screen of the iPhone. These widgets range from Calendar, Weather, Activity or even apps like Uber, for the lock screen.
Widgets on Lockscreen
If you are bored with one kind of lock screen and have to keep changing the way it looks, worry no more. With iOS 16, you can create multiple lock screens based on the different moods and looks that you would want your phone to exhibit. Accessing the lock screens is also easy, you just need to long-press on the lock screen. Following this, all your saved lock screens will appear, and you can then choose among them.

iMessage
There are times when we send a text that we didn’t plan to, and can not do anything about it. Social media platforms and messaging apps like Instagram and WhatsApp have the option of unsending or deleting sent texts before the receiver reads them. This functionality has finally come to iMessage. Users can now edit and even unsend sent messages within 15 minutes of sending the message. The receiver will not get any notification about the edits made to a message, but if you delete a text, they will be notified.

It is also important to remember that the unsend feature will only work if both the sender and the receiver have iOS 16. If the receiver does not have iOS 16, they will be able to read the messages even after you have unsent them.
Live Text
Live Text is a very convenient feature for people who travel to new places. It was first introduced in iOS 15, and it is only improving after the latest update. Earlier you could copy a text, translate, and send a text directly from a text in the photo. With iOS 16, Live Text works with videos too. You can pause a video, select a text in the video, and paste it anywhere or send it to anyone. This opens the door for even more opportunities and options for people to send texts without typing it out or relying on any other application to do the same.

iCloud Share
Google Drive allows users to share a dedicated folder of images and videos with their friends and family. The same can be done on iCloud as well. With iOS 16, Apple’s iCloud is bringing in a new feature. Now you can make a separate cloud folder to share with friends and family. Users having access to this folder can edit the images and then save them. You can also directly share the images or videos from the camera app immediately after taking one.

Other Important iOS 16 Features
Apart from the above-mentioned features, iOS 16 will bring in multiple other important accessibility features with it. The first feature is related to Spotlight. Apple’s internal search option can now be accessed from the bottom of the screen and is always available. It has been added for quick access and ease of usage.
The second feature added in Apple’s latest software update is haptics. iPhones did not have haptic feedback on the keyboard. While Android devices have had this feature for quite some time now, it will be interesting to see how the iPhone performs on the haptic front while you type on its keyboard.
One of the most interesting features to come with iOS 16 is related to FaceID. Users can now unlock their phones with FaceID in the landscape mode as well. This is an extension of the “unlock with mask feature” that Apple brought in a few updates back. You don’t have to place or hold your phone in portrait mode to unlock your phone.
