A major fire broke out at the Pune-based vaccine manufacturing company, Serum Institute of India on Thursday. The company is involved in making the COVID-19 vaccine Covishield, which has been given emergency use authorization in India. According to the reports by ANI, the fire broke out at Terminal-1 gate of Serum Institue of India in Pune. The fire continued to rage on the 4th and 5th floors of the building.
According to the reports, 10 fire tenders have reached the site. As of now, there is no immediate news about casualties. The site where the fire broke out is an under-construction building at SII. Visuals all over social media show huge plumes of smoke coming out of the building.
