MIUI is one of the most loved custom skin of Android smartphones. All Mi Fans were waiting for the MIUI 11 and the good news is Xiaomi has started rolling out the MIUI 11 update for Redmi K20 and Redmi 7A in India. All other devices will get the update in the upcoming days. Check out MIUI 11 eligible devices and update timeline at the end of this article. MIUI 11 brings minimal design along with a lot of new exciting features. Without further ado let’s talk about new MIUI 11 features and MIUI 11 Tips & Tricks which will improve your user experience.

MIUI 11 Tips & Tricks

MIUI is a feature pack UI and MIUI 11 brings a lot of new features which you should not miss. Let’s check them all one by one.

1. Customize Always-On-Display

MIUI 11 is always on. Redmi K20 and K20 Pro have AMOLED display and for this reason, they have an option to enable Ambient Display aka Always-On-Display in MIUI 10. Now, in MIUI 11 you can set Dynamic Clock on the Ambient Display. You can also set symmetrical Kaleidoscope patterns which look really cool. Not just that, you can customize the Always-On-Display according to your preferences. You can put your favorite quotes or lyrics on your display. For example, “TechBurner For Life”.

  • Settings
  • Ambient Display & Lock Screen
  • Turn on the Ambient Display
  • Select the style you want to apply

2. Notification LED

On the Redmi K20/Pro, the LED light of Pop-up selfie camera also works as the notification LED but MIUI 11 has a feature which light ups the entire screen when you receive a notification. You can choose from 3 different animations.

  • Settings
  • Ambient Display & Lock Screen
  • Tap on “When notifications come and the screen is off”.
  • Select the style you want to apply

3. Dynamic Video Wallpapers

MIUI 11 has Dynamic wallpapers and Dynamic video wallpapers feature.

  • Open the Gallery app and find the video you want to set as the wallpaper.
  • Tap on the Option.
  • Select “Set video wallpaper”
  • And tap “Apply”.

Manage Tasks

The Notes app of MIUI is very handy and useful in many scenarios. Now with the MIUI 11, you can add Tasks in the Notes app. There is a separate tab for the Tasks in the app itself.

  • Open Notes app.
  • Tap on the “+” button to add a task.
  • You can also add a voice task.
  • Tap on the three-dot icon.
  • Tap on “Settings.” and turn on “Task Toolbox”.
  • Now go to the home screen and swipe right from the upper part of the display to have a quick glance at your tasks.

4. Document Viewer

The File Manager of MIUI is very functional and now with the MIUI 11, it has a native document viewer. You can view thumbnails of all types of documents including, PPT, PDF, Word, Excel, etc. Additionally, there is no need for any third-party document viewer. Just tap on the document to preview it. This default document viewer is powered by the WPS office.

5. Mi Share

Mi Share is an Airdrop like feature for Android smartphones. This feature will work among Oppo, Vivo, Realme and Xiaomi smartphones. Users will be able to transfer files at a higher speed without requiring any third-party application.

6. Floating Calculator

The floating calculator is very useful especially when you are calculating something from the browser or from a chat.

  • Open the Calculator app and click on the arrow icon on the top left corner.
  • You can also adjust the size and opacity of the floating calculator.
  • You can also calculate your Age, GST, Discount etc. and you can also split the bill.

7. Steps Tracker

The Steps Tracker feature is available in the App Vault. Swipe right on the home screen and tap on the steps. It will show you the steps you walked on a particular day. Also, you can view the graph on the Weekly and Monthly view. It also shows the total distance you walked and the total calories you burned.

8. Dynamic Sounds

You can set natural sounds for the ringtones, notification tone and alarm tone.

  • Go to Settings
  • Tap on Sound & Vibration
  • Set the natural sound you like.
