The 13MP Periscope Telephoto lens has 5x Optical Zoom and 10x Hybrid Zoom. Dual OIS helps to capture steady photos even while zoomed in. Here are some 2x, 6x and 10x photos captured with the Oppo Reno 10x Zoom.

As you can see in the below samples, the images are sharp, colors are well produced and the dynamic range seems pretty nice. The first image was captured with normal mode while the second picture is the 2x zoom. The Hybrid Zoom can capture up to 10x lossless photos.

10x Zoom Sample

Let’s now talk about 10x Zoom Photos. The first image was captured in the Normal mode, which looks nice. The 48MP Sony IMX586 is a pretty capable camera sensor and Oppo has done good software optimisation to produce well-exposed photos. The highlights and shadows are good too.

The second photo is 2x Zoom and as you can see the image is sharp and vibrant. The third one is 6x Hybrid Zoom image. The Periscope lens can capture 5x Optical zoom and 10x Hybrid Zoom. The software helps the sensor the capture good 6x photo. The 6x photo is not as good as the 2x photo but the colours and details are still impressive. The last image is 10x Zoom. Compare the first image with the last image to understand the difference between normal and 10x Zoom images. The text is visible on the Fire Safety Bottle. However, the image looks a little bit softer due to the 10x zoom. The Colours are on point again and overall the photo looks nice.

Portrait Shots & Selfie Camera

The edge detection is on point in the Portrait image. Colours are vibrant and punchy and overall image quality is very impressive. The same case with the selfie camera. The selfie looks good but what is not here is the skin smoothing effect. Some sort of beautification is going on in the front camera and the image is overexposed. Still, the quality of the selfie camera is good.

Verdict

The Primary lens capture very impressive photos. The wider f/1.7 aperture helps to capture good images in low light condition, however, we didn’t try low light photography yet. The 2x and 4x Zoom images are sharp. However, the 6x and 10x images are a little bit softer but still, the details in the image are appreciable. Additionally, it can capture up to 60x digital zoom image which is not that good but acceptable. Overall, Oppo Reno 10x Zoom is a very good offering from the Oppo with flagship grade specifications and an impressive camera.
