PC Build of the Week

PC builds have gained immense popularity after the increased popularity of gaming. However, PC builds can sometimes be beyond budget for some people. This is due to the belief that PC building is an expensive affair. The same is also true in today’s time, when the prices of PC hardware are going through the roof. But, it is still possible for you to build a PC while sticking to a strict budget. In this edition of PC build of the week, we break down a gaming PC setup for INR 45K.

The performance of this PC will not be extremely high-end, but it will be better than the pre-built PCs and laptops available in the same range. All the components can be bought either online or offline, and the prices of the same might vary depending on the time of purchase. Let’s get right into the components required for the complete build.

This PC is idea for 1080p gaming on low-medium settings, Photoshop edits and small video edits like YouTube Shorts or Instagram Reels. All these tasks can be performed easily on this build.

Processor: Intel Core i3 10100F

The Intel Core i3 10100F is a quad-core processor supported by 8 threads. The processor comes with a base clock of 3.6Ghz and a boost clock of 4.3Ghz. The processor comes with a stock cooler in the box, which is capable to help the processor run on cooler temperatures. If you want to add an external or third-party cooler, you can do that as well. However, since the processor is not unlocked, it won’t require a stronger cooler. Since Intel launched their 12th gen processors, the prices of the 11th and 10th gen processors have gone down. Currently, you can buy this processor for around INR 7-7.5K.

GPU: Nvidia GTX 1050Ti

GPU prices have been fluctuating for some time now. Prices are stabilising now and then but the availability is still an issue. For this build, the Nvidia GTX 1050Ti will be a good fit. Even though the GPU is a little old, the performance for the price is not compromised. The 4 GB VRAM helps you run games like Valorant, Apex Legends and other popular games on low to medium settings on 1080p. If you are okay with compromising on the quality a little, you can play all the games on 720p preset, and get more frame rates and a smoother gameplay experience.

The brand of the GPU is your choice. Brands like the Inno3D and Colourful are cheaper than MSI or Asus. However, since the GPU is already facing shortage, it is best to grab what you can. You can purchase this card for INR 16-17K.

Motherboard: MSI H410M

This is a very basic motherboard, and you can use it with the 10th generation Intel CPUs. The motherboard comes with 2 RAM slots, and one dedicated NVMe slot. Since it is a budget motherboard, the VRM sections are not very effective, but are present. The Intel CPU does not run very hot, and the motherboard can handle the heat. You can buy this motherboard for INR 4.5-5K.

Memory: 8 GB 2666 MHz

Memory is an important par of any PC build. However, since this is a budget PC build, we suggest using a single 8 GB stick initially. The Intel 10th gen CPUs do not support high frequency memory, and using a 2666 MHz RAM stick would be a good and budget friendly option. Brands like Adata or Crucial have multiple memory options that are basic, with no fancy RGB lights. Compromising on the aesthetic side, you can get a good deal. This memory is enough for most games along with light editing on Photoshop, or for Instagram Reels. The motherboard in this build comes with a dual-RAM slot, which can utilised in the future. You can get this memory stick for around INR 2.5-3K.
