After a mill of leaks and rumour Realme X is now official. Realme formally announced two of its new smartphone namely the Realme X and Realme X Lite. Realme X Lite is the same smartphone as Realme 3 Pro rebranded for the Chinese market. But what’s interesting is Realme X with full-screen display and pop-up selfie camera. It is the first smartphone from the company to sport a pop-up selfie camera. The phone also comes with a glass-like finish back featuring a gradient finish in ‘S’ shaped curve and an in-display fingerprint sensor.
Realme X Lite or Realme 3 Pro for Chinese Market
Realme X Lite is basically the same smartphone that was launched as Realme 3 Pro in India. This smartphone packs a 6.3-inch full-HD+ resolution of 1080×2340 pixels, an IPS display with waterdrop-notch housing the front 25 MP f/2.0 camera. At the back, there is a dual camera setup which includes a 16 MP primary camera with f/1.7 aperture and a 5 MP secondary camera with f/2.4 aperture.
It is powered by the octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 SoC, paired with up to 6GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage. It comes with a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor and also includes a 4,045mAh battery with support for VOOC 3.0 fast charging.
Realme X: The Real King!
Realme X sports a 6.53-inch full-HD+ resolution of 1080×2340 pixels an AMOLED screen with a 91.2% screen-to-body ratio. This is high screen-to-body ratio is achieved by eliminating the notch and add a pop-up camera mechanism. The pop-up mechanism houses a 16 MP camera with f/2.0 aperture with SONY IMX 471 sensor. At the back, Realme yet again used Polycarbonate material with gradient colour giving a glass-like finish. It has dual camera setup on the back, which houses a 48 MP primary SONY IMX 589 sensor with an f/1.7 aperture and a 5 MP secondary sensor with an f/2.4 aperture.
At the front it also has Gorilla Glass 5 protection. It features an in-display fingerprint sensor which is nice to see at this budget price segment. The phone is powered by octa-core Snapdragon 710 SoC, paired with up to 8GB of RAM and 128 GB of non-expandable memory. It also comes with a 3,765mAh battery with support for VOOC 3.0 fast charging. The phone finally includes USB Type-C port for data transfer and charging. It also has Dolby Atmos support for better audio quality. The phone runs on Android 9 Pie with ColorOS 6.0 on top.
Realme X Master Edition
Realme also launched the Realme X Master Edition that features a special “real” design inspired by the inner layers onion and garlic. The special design has been crafted by Japanese industrial designer Naoto Fukasawa, who worked with the Realme team to make 72 different iterations before choosing the final design. This special edition will only be available in the 8GB+128GB variant.
Realme X Pricing and Availability
The Realme X will be available in two different colour options white and peacock blue. There will be three variants, the 4GB+64GB version will be priced at 1499 yuan (~15,300 INR), the 6GB+64GB at 1599 yuan (~16,300 INR), and the 8GB+128GB variant for 1799 yuan (~18,300 INR). Meanwhile, the Master edition comes at a price of 1899 yuan (~19,400 INR).
At this price, Realme absolutely nailed it. Seeing features like AMOLED screen, in-display fingerprint scanner and pop-up camera at this price are really insane! If Realme manages to bring Realme X at a similar price in India then it would have no one to compete. Though we expected it with Snapdragon 855, the aggressive pricing is more than justified. Maybe there can be a Realme X Pro with the flagship processor.
