Asus ROG Phone 2: A Perfect Gaming Smartphone
The successor of the first ROG phone is here and it packs everything, almost everything! Asus has officially launched its flagship gaming smartphone Asus ROG Phone 2 which is really impressive. It is the first smartphone which is powered by the latest and the greatest Snapdragon 855 Plus SoC. ROG Phone 2 is an amazing smartphone not just for the gamers but for all the Power users. Design
ROG Phone 2 looks like a true gaming smartphone. It feels solid in the hand and the form factor of the phone is ideal for intensive gaming. The RGB logo on the back looks amazing! The headphone jack is present and not just only one but 2 USB Type-C ports are present on the ROG Phone 2. After all, it’s a gaming smartphone and Asus has taken care of the cooling system, vapour chamber and vents are present to prevent throttling while heavy gaming sessions.

Display
ROG Phone 2 packs a 6.59″ FHD+ AMOLED Panel with 120Hz Refresh Rate. OnePlus 7 Pro features a 90Hz Display and here Asus went a step further. The touch sampling rate is 240Hz and the touch latency is 49ms which is the lowest of any phone, Asus claims. The response time is just 1ms. No notch, no punch-hole and no motorized mechanism, ROG Phone 2 has thin bezels on top and bottom of the screen. In a gaming smartphone, bezels are necessary because it provides grip. Also, Asus has packed dual front-firing speakers in the bezels which are a nice implement. The display is covered by Gorilla Glass 6. It also has HDR 10-bit support. The display is gorgeous and playing a game on this big display is a next-level fun! The fingerprint sensor is underneath the display.
Processor
Should we really talk about the performance? Asus ROG Phone 2 is powered by the Snapdragon 855 Plus. It is Qualcomm’s gaming-focused Chipset. There is a 5% CPU boost and 15% GPU Boost in the 855 Plus. Adreno 640 GPU helps the 855 Plus to provide the best gaming experience. It makes the ROG Phone 2 fast and fluid. It’s near to impossible to feel any lag in the day to day task but what about high graphics games? It can handle all the high graphics games smoothly.
Dedicated Gaming Features
So, similar to the first generation ROG Phone Air triggers are present here which is improved. It also detects swipes and makes the gaming experience even better. Four microphones are present with noise-cancellation and the 5 Magnet dual speakers support DTS X. Dedicated Gaming Mode or Game Lobby allows you to control the CPU Speed and the RGB light. Two vibration motors increase the haptic feedback.

Camera
ROG Phone 2 is a gaming-focused smartphone but the camera present on this is very good. In fact, it shares the same back camera setup of the Asus 6Z. The 48MP IMX586 along with a 13MP wide-angle lens with 125 degrees of field of view is capable of capturing good images. A 24MP selfie camera is present in the top bezel.
Battery
A massive 6,000mAh battery provides energy to the overclocked Snapdragon 855 Plus and power-hungry 120Hz Display. Also, it comes with 30W HyperCharge fast charger. 6,000 seems like a big number but heavy graphic games consume battery a lot. Asus said that more than 7 hours of PUBG gameplay with 60Hz Display is possible with a single charge! External accessories like AeroActive Cooler fan also consumes battery. Despite having a massive battery, the phone weighs 240grams which is not heavy.
Software
On the software sides of things, it runs on ROG UI on top of Android 9.0 Pie. The ROG UI comes with a black and red theme, you can also choose a white or light theme. What’s even good here is that Asus allows you to choose ZenUI which is present on the Asus 6Z. It means you can also enjoy close to Stock Android interface in the ROG Phone 2.
Gaming Accessories
The first ROG Phone was famous for its external gaming accessories. Yes, there are many accessories also available for the ROG Phone 2. First of all AeroActive Cooler Fan can be attached to the second USB Type-C port which cools the phone as well as your fingers.
ROG Kunai Gamepad looks like the Nintendo Switch and you can use the physical gamepad. The dual-screen TwinView Dock allows gamers to use two display at the same time. The other display is also 120Hz AMOLED panel and dock has a 5,000mAh battery. It also has super cool RGB lighting.
Asus ROG Phone 2 Price
The official price of the ROG Phone 2 is unveiled for China. The base variant which comes with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage will cost you CNY 3,499 (35,000 INR). The 12GB RAM variant with 512GB of storage is priced at CNY 6,000 (60,000 INR) in China. We will share more details about the Asus ROG Phone 2 Price.
Asus ROG Phone 2 India Launch
