The pop-up selfie camera mechanism is one of the best ways to provide a full view display experience in a smartphone. The first smartphone with the Pop-up camera was the Vivo Nex which was launched in 2018. We have came across a number of smartphones with the Pop-up front camera. Brands like Xiaomi, Realme, OnePlus, Vivo and Oppo have used this motorized mechanism on their smartphones. The Pop-up selfie camera is usually more or less similar. Now Oppo has filed a patent which shows a Side Pop-up camera! Let's check out more about this Side-mounted Pop-up camera.
Oppo Side Pop-up Camera
Oppo has registered a new patent in the CNIPA (China National Intellectual Property Administration). Usually, this kind of elevating camera mechanism is present on the top of the phone. On the other hand, Oppo's patent shows a side-mounted pop-up camera. The image shows the elevating camera on the right side of the phone. The camera rises from the rear camera setup. Oppo tries different ways to offer a complete bezel-less experience, we have seen sliding mechanism on the Find X and Shark Fin rising camera on the Oppo Reno.

The patent image also reveals dual rear camera setup on the back and a LED light below the camera setup. The Pop-up camera aligns with the rear camera setup. The image also reveals the power button on the right side and volume rockers as well as SIM card slot on the left side. At this time we don't know how this side-mounted Pop-up camera will make a difference. It might be possible that the company never release a smartphone with this type of mechanism. Let's wait and watch, how Oppo will use this type of pop-up camera.
